• New Music Releases Feed at Merecal
  

  As many of you likely know, I've been providing this New Music Releases RSS Feed for over four years now. Back then, I was desperate for a good source of new release information and when I couldn't find one, I set out to hand-roll this RSS feed myself.

  Since then, it's become very clear that I wasn't alone. The feed has gathered over 100 subscribers, and I hope it's served its purpose for all of you as it has for me.

  I'm very happy to report, though, that this feed is no longer a necessity, because as I mentioned on my blog last week, I have launched a new service called Merecal that provides a much better, more reliable web feed for new releases in music.

  Furthermore, Merecal allows you to actually choose web feeds for subcategories of music you're interested in. The following are just a few examples:

  • Alternative Rock Feed
  • British Invasion Feed
  • Country Feed
  • Jazz Feed
  • Rap & Hip-Hop Feed
  • Soundtracks Feed

  Better still, Merecal doesn't just stop at music. If you're interested in books, movies on Blu-ray and DVD, or video games, Merecal has you covered there as well.

  Rather than automatically redirecting all of this feed's current subscribers to the equivalent feed from Merecal, I wanted to make sure everyone had a chance to head on over to Merecal and take a look for themselves, since there may be more appropriate feeds there based on your personal interests.

  If you have any feedback on Merecal or the new web feeds provided, you can contact me via my blog or at info@merecal.com.

  In the next week or two, I will start redirecting requests for this feed directly to the equivalent feed from Merecal, so you're free to just do nothing at all, and your feed reader of choice should handle the transition seamlessly.
